Llandovery 38-9 Llanelli
Llandovery ran out comfortable winners in this National cup 2nd round tie. Given all the wet weather we've had recently the Church Bank pitch was is good shape to allow the game to go ahead. Whilst the fact that no Assistant Referees were allocated to the game, Ref Ben Whitehouse did really well to ensure that the game flowed. Llandovery scored three tries in the first half, centre Ryan Evans crossed in the fourth minute following a turnover in mid field. Their second came from hooker Ricky Guest following a five metre lineout and subsequent drive to the line. In between these scores, Llanelli kept in touch on the scoresheet with three well struck penalty goals from outside half Ioan Hughes. Just on half Time former Llanelli player Duane Eager extended the home sides advantage with their third try. Outside Kristian Jones slotted two conversions to make the half time score 19 - 9
It was nip and tuck in the third quarter but two tries in ten minutes put the tie beyond doubt. Back row Sean Miles crossed following a five metre scrum and then second row Joe Powell scored their fifth try, again following a period of sustained forward pressure. Aaron Warren completed the try scoring just before the final whistle. Two of the three tries in the second half were converted, Kristian Jones, and replacement Josh Hammett.
