Match Report

'Young Turks' run free

Llanelli last won on the Gnoll in 2003 with British Lion Mike Phillips leading the way. The 2009 'Young Turks' came away with a convincing win with inspirational captain Craig Hawkins playing in the middle of the scrum with 18year old props Rowan Jenkins and Tristan Davies, who replaced the injured Kevin Jones after 23 minutes.

Leading 15-3 at halftime through two well worked tries from Jonny Lewis and Jason Howells with Dan Newton converting one conversion and a penalty, the question was could they put in an 80 minute game?

A superb try from another 18 year old Dale Ford set the tone for the second period which Newton converted. Neath managed a try from replacement prop Emyr Lewis converted by replacement Gareth McCarthy to add to his earlier penalty. But Newton sealed matters in the 77th minute with another penalty to come away with the four Premiership points.

Man of the Match Nic Cudd.
