We are back at Parc - y - Scarlets this coming Sunday when we host the wizards of Aberavon RFC in this our 3rd Premiership encounter of the season. The scheduled kick off at the ‘parc’ is 2.30pm and will complete a full weekend of International and Pro14 rugby. As the Newport match report reads, if the semi’s are to secure their first win in the combined Premiership league they will need to improve on recent performances. Yes, at times we’ve played some really good rugby but on too many occasions defensive lapses have undone all their good work, if we are to get a result on Sunday they’ll have to eradicate these lapses as the quality in the Aberavon ranks will undoubtedly make the home side pay dearly.
I’m sure the boys know that though and will, I’m sure look to get the win that they’re all striving for.
Like ourselves Aberavon have had a difficult start to the 2nd phase, with this fixture they’ll have played all their games, bar one away from the Talbot Athletic ground, so have plenty of opportunities to build on their current league position. Last week they lost out narrowly at Bargoed going down 16-14 in a really competitive fixture. They will come to the ‘parc’ looking to kick start the 2nd phase.
This will be our third match against the Wizards this season and with both the previous games producing numerous tries from each side, the prospect of another one must be very high. For the statisticions amongst us, our two fixtures have produced 17 tries (Aberavon lead 9/8) and believe it or not 62pts apiece! So, why not come along on Sunday to catch the Premiership action - I’m sure it will be an entertaining affair.
As always a warm welcome awaits everyone.
