We're back in Principality Premiership West action again this Saturday. We travel north to take on RGC 1404 in the second round of the west group. Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay which now named Stadiwm Zip World, has become a bit of a fortress for the home side and after their defeat at Church Bank against the Drovers they will have the added incentive to get their season up and running by turning us over. Of course our young squad will have other ideas!! A good win for us against the Quins last weekend has set this fixture up very nicely.
RGC have done incredibly well since being set up by the WRU - success, culminating with their elevation to the Premiership last year, and what a year they had, WRU National Cup winners and a league play off spot to boot. Former Scarlets Mark Jones and Phil John are still at the reins and will no doubt be pushing their squad hard this week to get the side well prepared ahead of the challenge Llanelli will bring.
Our performance against the Quins was very encouraging, some smart plays coupled with really promising individual performances. Our new side showed lots of nice touches and had bags of energy - they know more of the same will be required to deny their hosts the spoils.
Hopefully the good weather will continue and with such a good playing surface at Parc Eirias we should be in for a cracking game of rugby.
Look forward to seeing you there, and please note details of Fanzone, which will be located in between the south stand and Gate C car park will be open from 1pm.
Finally good luck to the Scarlets as they kick off their Pro14 season. Ymlaen!
